recycling

Wanted: Large, highly inefficient appliances

Never been a better time to junk that fridge or freezer and upgrade to something from the 21st century (i.e. something that doesn’t use 3 times the electricity). Nhsaves is offering free recycling and a $30 reward for turning in the suspects. Plus free pickup. Offer ends June 30!
Call 877-545-4113 or visit www.nhsaves.com to schedule that pickup.

Recycling Pickup Service

Do you want to recycle but live in a condo or own a business that doesn’t have recycling pickup? Contact us at iRecycle@hotmail.com and we will come pickup your recycling for you. We are currently servicing the Nashua area, with additional surrounding communities soon to come.

Pickup will be on Saturday mornings. Weekly, semi-monthly or monthly programs are available. There is a $2 pickup fee + $1 for each container of recyclables. Trash bags or cardboard boxes are acceptable containers. Please have your containers available for pickup by 9 am on Saturday morning.

Composting just got easier

If you haven't already heard of the Northeast Resource Recovery Association (NRRA), you should take note: The Epsom-based association is dedicated to helping people, municipalities and businesses advance their recycling efforts.

One of the big ways the NRRA can help is by offering backyard compost bins for just $40. If you've shopped around at all for compost bins, you might note that this is A VERY GOOD DEAL! (Full disclosure: This editor purchased a bin through NRRA last spring and has had great success with it.) More information on the bins:
• 80 gallon capacity

Oil slicks = bad.

Here’s some scary news: It takes only one pint of oil to produce a one-acre slick on surface water.

To dispose of used motor oil safely, carefully pour the oil into a suitable container. You can buy specially designed one at an automotive store or just use a clean, preferably clear, container with a closeable lid. (Don’t use containers that previously contained household chemicals such as bleach.) Plastic milk jugs with screw caps work well.
