• Activate the sleep feature or turn off office equipment when it’s not in use during the day.
• Turn off computers, monitors, power strips, printers and copiers at night and on weekends.
• Shut off ceiling lights if daylight or task lighting is bright enough.
• Take the stairs instead of elevators whenever possible. As an added bonus, you’ll get some exercise.
• Use manual doors rather than the electric ones.
• If you walk by an empty room, turn the light off. Ask your employer to place signs in every room requesting people turn off the lights when the room isn’t in use.

Turning off is not good enough as it leaves the idle (phantom or standbye ) power on still sucking electricity. To stop the flow you must unplug the unit or use a smart strip. If we all omitted our idle power we could save 10-15% of our electricity.
