• Recycle office paper, newspapers, beverage containers, electronic equipment, batteries and used printer cartridges.
• Collect paper that’s been used on one side and use for taking notes. Use a clipboard to hold it in place.
• Try to see to it that everyone has a small recycling bin, to make recycling easier.
• Try to use biodegradable soaps and recycled paper or cloth towels in the bathroom and kitchen.
• Ask your employer to consider donating used equipment to schools or other organizations instead of throwing it away.

Although big box stores will collect and "recycle" your used printer cartridges, they actually get broken down into their component parts and made into new products or are incinerated to "recover energy" as a way to keep refilled cartridges out of the marketplace. A company like EcoLogic Cartridge Company "reuses" empty cartridges, a more eco-friendly method.
Here's what I do: The only recycling bins we have at work are for paper. Good, but not good enough. I try to bring my lunch, but when I'm pressed and need to purchase a drink or meal, I rinse out all recyclable containers and bring them home to my recycling bin. Small act, but if we all did it, we'd cut so far back on waste... Also, at age 47, it's taken me a little time to get with paperless, but I've finally trained myself that I don't need to print much out these days, it's all available in the saved electronic versions. I write concise notes to retain, and only print out what I absolutely need on hard copy.
