• Do two or more loads in a row.
• Don’t use more detergent than you need. Excess suds just might require extra rinsing.
• Try not to overwash. A 10-minute cycle is usually enough for even really dirty clothes.
• Set the washing machine water level for the size of the load. If the machine doesn’t have variable levels, wait until you have a full load.
• Use the soak cycle. It can save energy and money.
• Whenever possible, air dry clothes instead of using the dryer.
• When you do use the dryer, don’t overdry, and try to fill the dryer with clothes of the same thickness for maximum efficiency.
• Use warm or cold settings to dry, especially for permanent press clothes.
• Keep the lint filter clean.
