Looking for Simple Ways to Find Local Foods

I have moved around a lot so I don't always know where to go to find information on farmers/producers of locally grown/produced food and/or restaurants that focus on local. Any suggests now that I am in NH?

Check out the NOFANH.org website. They have an interactive map that lets you find farmstands, CSAs, farms, and farmers markets throughout the State of NH.

Thanks for all these great ideas! So far my experiences living in the White Mountain State have been great and it is because of people like yourselves who do this great work and share it with everyone! I think this website and the edible White Mountains magazine ought to be in the welcome kit from every real estate agency and Welcome Wagon group out there! I am going to those websites now and will subscribe to edibleWhiteMountains right away. Can't wait to see it all!

Hi musselman,

Great question -- and depending on where you live, there are probably lots of options for you. Search for farmers' markets on this site, and you'll find a link to all the state's markets -- there are so many options, you might be pleasantly surprised. And if you're interested in going the farm share route this summer, search for "csa" on the site, and you'll find a link to all the community supported agriculture projects in the state. Chances are, too, that there's a natural foods store or co-op near you that sells local food and could likely provide a wealth of information on local eating.

Any other thoughts for musselman, readers?

For musselman.as and others who are Looking for Simple Ways to Find Local Foods:
Edible White Mountains, a quarterly publication celebrating the abundance of New Hampshire's local foods, local food artisans, along with the chefs and restaurants who sustain our table every season, will launch on June 1st and be heavily distributed throughout the state all summer long.
Look for it at Farmers' Markets, Eco-Friendly Stores and restaurants that feature local foods.
Subscription and advertising information can be found at www.ediblewhitemountains.com or by calling 603.526.9081.

Depending on where you live, there are a number of resources available. You can start by checking at these lists that the state puts out, http://www.visitnh.gov/what-to-do/markets-and-fairs/

If you live near the Seacoast you can check www.seacoastharvest.org and if you live near Keene you can check in with the Hannah Grimes Locavore project. There is also a locavore group in Plymouth that could help you out. You can also check the 'eating' and 'resources' pages of this site, too.
