Local Foods Serve Us All WellBy maryrittle | April 19, 2009Eating locally grown food is healthier, supports the local economy and is less expensive (due to eliminating transportation costs). Does anyone know of resources about local foods in New Hampshire? Thank you. |

I just picked up the premeire edition of "Edible White Mountains" magazine at the local Farmer's Market. This is well worth the read--full of local, sustainable companies run by New Hampshire families and companies trying to provide the freshest and most wholesome food. Kudos to Publishers KC and Barry Wright and their writing staff for giving us a free publication that let's us know how to support our local economy while eating well. I will definitely support their advertisers.
Hi maryrittle,
Take a look at the tips in the Eating section of this site: You'll find several ways to take advantage of New Hampshire's abundant summer harvest and local farming operations, including farmers' markets, weekly farm shares you can subscribe to, a virtual farmers' market, so you don't even have to leave home, and more. There are also several of localvore groups in the state, which celebrate local food and can provide lots of resources for you. You'll find information on those in the Eating and Resources sections.
