Yay, Cath!
One of my favorite ways to reuse is with #5, 6 & 7 plastic food containers. They make for great tupperware and usually hold up in a dishwasher (I don't own one of those, though... they deal with hand washing even better). Stonyfield Yogurt containers (the BIG ones!) work fantastically time and time again. I use a marker to label their contents. Concord and many other communities can't recycle these heavier plastics, so reusing them is the only way to keep them out of a landfill- and it keeps tupperware out of my grocery budget altogether, unless you utilize a web site like http://www.earth911.com. They can tell you where to send heavy plastics to be recycled. I believe the Recycline company takes heavy plastics from all over. They turn them into my favorite toothbrushes and razor handles. After you're done using those, you can send them back to Recycline, who further recycles them into building materials. What a wonderful cycle!
