Green Alliance: Green and Growing!By GreenAlliance | May 12, 2009The Green Alliance is a growing union of green businesses on the NH Seacoast, offering strength in numbers, raising the profile of local sustainable businesses through collaboration, consumer education, and shared business strategies. Started last July by local activist and former journalist Sarah Brown, the GA has since exploded into a union of 53 businesses -- and more are joining every week. The GA provides its business partners with marketing / networking strategies and advertising, which includes issuing a monthly newsletter to a list of 10,000 (and growing!) contacts that touts new and existing members, local sustainability-minded events, and more. Yet while businesses have been joining the GA in droves, what really makes our organization run is our growing, shared consumer base. How does it work? For a mere $35 a year, individuals receive a Green Card. The Green Card looks and swipes just like any other credit or debit card, and is good for discounts at every single one of our businesses! The businesses themselves decide their level of discount -- some restaurants offer 10% off food and drinks every time you go in, other places offer one-time dollar discounts. Needless to say, at a mere $35 a year, the Green Card has the potential to pay for itself almost immediately. And with new businesses joining every week, that means more places for green-minded consumers to save, while supporting their growing local green economy!
